While Fort Collins has historically received national accolades as one of our nation’s most desirable communities, our community’s reputation as a great place to live brings little comfort to the families and individuals who are unable to secure permanent housing.

Homeward 2020 was formed with a mission of helping to assess and inform the community on Fort Collins’ homeless situation and to create and implement an action plan to end homelessness. Composed of community leaders and stakeholders, this task force is working closely with Dr. Jamie Van Leeuwen, a homelessness expert and advisor to Mayor Hickenlooper on Denver’s Road Home Project, as well as Pathways Past Poverty, a consortium of community members working to fight poverty on a local level.

Objectives of this task group include the following:
  • Conduct an assessment survey and develop a comprehensive Report to the Community that clearly identifies the scope of homelessness in our community.
  • Develop and implement an Action Plan to end homelessness, integrating Dr. Van Leeuwen’s best practices-based recommendations and the collaborative input of other local resources.
