Please visit www.fortzed.com for the latest updates on FortZED!
Fort Collins’ UniverCity focus area, encompassing the CSU campus, Old Town, and the downtown river corridor, is uniquely positioned to be at the forefront of our nation’s new energy economy. We will be known as leaders – with many of the nation’s experts on renewable energy theory and practice living and working in the UniverCity District. We’re calling this FortZED for Zero Energy District.
We are well on our way, with:
EXPERTISE that resides at the Northern Colorado Clean Energy Cluster, in the private sector, and at CSU, including the Engines and Energy Conversion Lab and the CSU Energy Supercluster.
RESOURCES including commitments of time and expertise from Fort Collins Utilities and the Clean Energy Cluster, and substantial volunteer energy and community leadership through UniverCity Connections.
FINANCING MOMENTUM including a U.S. Department of Energy grant that will bring more than $11 million in investment from federal, state, business, and community sources to help kick-start the initiative by improving our electric utility infrastructure.
ENTHUSIASM and practical knowledge among residents, businesses, and institutions.
